Hi, my name is Samantha Elley and I've been doing family history for the last 30 years. I am a journalist and I recently gained my Diploma in Family History from the University of Tasmania. I've always loved visiting cemeteries and discovering the stories of those who have gone before us. I approached my editor at the Lismore newspaper The Northern Star over 5 years ago with the suggestion of a column called Tales from the Grave that concentrated on stories on the Northern Rivers and it was a hit with the local area. With this blog I want to go national and discover the hidden stories of Australians that are buried in our graveyards and even those hidden resting places. I hope you can come along for the ride.
